Have a look at the actual ranks obtained based on marks for AIEEE 2007 :
And yes coming to institute wise cutoffs..Here they are:NITs : 8,000(First Counseling) to 12,000 (Second Counseling)
DA-IICT(Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Commutation) : 8,000
Jaypee institute, Noida : 23,000(Last year,will be higher this year)
Thapar Institute, Patiala : 20,000(Punjab Quota) 13,000(Outside Punjab)
I really cannot say about the cutoffs of IIITs and Delhi College of Engineering.

i think this is quite good prediction
but 130 should be sufficient to get 30000 and 150 for 20000
from each prediction 5 marks should be less as i have compared from 4-5 sources…

Yes I have given AIEEE 2007 but have not calculated my marks just to spend this month peacefully..But I can tell you that I attempted 75% of the paper…

i have got 230 in my AIEEE….
i am from delhi and my father says that he has spoken to some principals of different institutions and they say that anyone in delhi with a rank of about 5000 is difficult to get through a good NIT because in every NIT after the 15% otside state quota there is a separate quota for delhi students because my state rank would be about 1500-2000. the principals also told us that the first 5000 rankers are from delhi, mumbai, chandigarh and other leading cities so its difficult to get in all these institutes.
IS IT ALL TRUE….WHAT DOES YOUR RESEARCH SAYS ON THIS….
P.S…. i am getting a score of 312 in bitsat do you think ill qualify there…..is it worth taking bit or Thapar or any NIT….do suggest soon….

No Delhi students cannot apply for DCE through AIEEE….They have to clear the CEE exam..
With 275 you will get a rank in top 1000..thats all I can say at the moment..

I am expecting about 172 marks in AIEEE and has done 12th from Dehradun, Uttarakhand. In AIEEE you have bright chances and you will get a good NIT with CSE..

I have been seeing ur blog since JEE exams. One thing that I could observe from comments posted is that the thrill of exam. results have not changed much from our times. My son has appeared at JEE, AIEEE, CUSAT, skipped WBJEE, ISI and will be appearing in BITSAT on 24th. We are expecting him to be at a GOOD INSTITUTE with GOD’s GRACE (EK PATTA BHI JISKI MARJI KE BAGAIR NAHIN HILATA).
LN MIttal – Is this the same institute that was inaugurated by Mr Manmohan Singh two years back? Any other details about this institute?

51% is good enough to get into IIT…
300 marks in BITSAT to be on safer side and get a decent branch…

What is the procedure for selection to DCE? Is the procedure similar to that for NITs? Does state rank play a role in DCE selection for outside Delhi candidates? I understand, institutes like IIIT Hyd. , etc. don’t take state rank into consideration?

Hi Ankur Gupta, I am from TN and am getting the following marks : IIT P 72 M 65 C 82 T 219. Then in AIEEE i am getting a total of 224. I got 285 in BITSAT. What rank do you project for me in JEE? And, more importantly, which branches can I get(if any) in any of the top 5 IITs, NIT Trichy, Warangal or Surathkal and in BITS Goa? PleAse give me an honest answer and don’t be diplomatic. I want an opinion, and most definitely value yours. And lastly, would you please rank the three NITs named above as per your opinion please? Everyone seems to have a different take on that. Well someone had posted last year cut-off for DCE last year but I accidentally deleted it..
He had got it bang on target..It was around 500 AIR rank for Mech and upto 1000 AIR rank for lower branches..

BISAT paper is easy but speed and accuracy matter a lot…
IIIT is a very good college…
You will get a NIT in AIEEE which is better than VIT..

Really dunno about CUSAT cutoff rank but 7k seems pretty far off to expect to get in..
Cochin univ. is very good…Infact it had been selected to be converted into an IIT but later HRD ministry later decided not to convert universities but rather open new IITs..

Ankur, which is a better option: Chemical in Goa or Civil in Goa or Electronics in NIT Trichy ? I dont have any fixed likes or dislikes and am open to all. Moreover, what branches can I expect in IIT with 220 after clearing all cutoffs? What branches in the top 5 IITs, that is. NIT trichy is best but BITS emerges as winer..If you plan to go abroad after studying then take Chemical or civil in BITS Goa coz BITS has much more recognition outside India..but if you will stay in india then EC in trichy is also good..tough decison..
You will lower branches in IIT like chemical and stuff…
Dunno about NIT, Warrangal being converted into IIT..

silchar may be lying in remote corner of our country but the environment (if a person is really not serious about his career) i bad any were/any insti in india let alone at iit’s
well even in this 1 u wud fing that PEC THAPAR are placed at better locations…well thts because of their overall placement, industrial collabs, profs doing various projs, industrial interface of students and their industrial involvement…. its not by the food culture..or by the how much good/bad living area…or say how many comforts the student shall get….in that insti

By the way, the published cut-offs by some colleges pertain mostly to Ist counselling. During 2nd counselling, cut-offs nose dive (e.g. Ist couns. 8000, 2nd couns. 20000).

In IIT JEE I’ve qualified in Extended List for IIST & IISER (Indian Instite of Space & Tech. & Indian Institute for Science Education & Research) ,in AIEEE my AIR is 14540 (U.P. SR:2256 ).
I came to know that the institutes IIST at Trivandrum & IISER at Pune ,Kolkata & Mohali are new institues established in 2006. Morever IISER doesn’t offer any B.Tech. course only 5 yrs integrated M.S. course & IIST offers B.Tech. course but only in ‘Avionics’ & ‘Aerospace Engg’. & some Masters & Specialization Programme.
Are these intitues better and have bright futures ? Is M.S. course can provide a me good job after completetion of Course ? Is ‘ISRO’ is the only oraganisation in India from where I can get a job after B.Tech from IIST ?
Should I join these institutes or can I get a nice branch in any NIT or Thapar or in any better colleges ?
I & my parents are very much tensionised. Please reply ,your response is very much important to us.

Was there any 2nd counselling in Jaypee Noida last year. If so upto what ranks they called for 2nd couselling.
I lost it very closely as my JIIT rank is 2421they called upto 2200 rank(approx) for counselling on 25th & 26th June & total seats are 600
My AIEEE AIR rank is 27468

I have heard there have been drug problems at the manipal campus. Hi Ankur,
Could you please advice me on this? My younger brother has got 212 marks in AIEEE-07 and his AIR is 9811 and State rank is 1444. What College would be best suited for him because i m a bit confused on this point. I want him to go in a good gov. eng. college. Thapar is a good college but it’s counselling is so early that if he could have possibly get a better one i am not sure it would be possible after the counselling.

Please tell your views on whether he may get into any of the TOP NITs after all round of counselling …….
He also got AIR 850 in UPSEE ….I will get HBTI mechanical(99% ) and may be ELECTRICAL also (chances are very less) …..
He got a call from dhiru bhai also …but the problem is ki uski counselling is on 27th june and 40 k has to be deposited ….refund rules are also very stringent ….
He will surely attend counselling for UPSEE and hopefully get a seat in HBTI …..
Please give ur suggestion on whether he should go for Dhirubhai or should wait for AIEEE counselling to get in NITs (if possible)…..

Your blog is fascinating. My daughter has got AIEEE state rank 1400 and natl rank 9500. Also got JP 121 rank. She wants to study only biotech engg. (1) Can she get any decent NIT-barring civil, mech -which girls dont like to join ? (2) Do any NIT have biotech ? (3) While Thapar has an overall better reputation , which is better from a biotech point of view- Thapar and JP ( Biospectrum says JP Noida got the best Biotech set up)

I am a student from IIIT Hyderabad I was just going through the blog So I felt my input can be of some use to u ppl.
If you have secured a rank below 2000 then you have a great chance of getting into IIIT-H.
below 1500 you can get CSE and ECE
1500-2000 you can get CSD and ECD
if you people have a preference of branch…
then its the best option for CSE, you can prefer it over IITs if you are not getting a good field.

Ankur , congrats for your good work and able advice to so many students and NIT aspirants.
One thing that I wanted to say to many in the mail list is that NIT’s are national centre for excellence. Don’t say that some branches in engineering or science or management is lower or higher. You have frontiers to explore in any branches. please don’t go by placement ,atleast in NIT’s although it is imperative to have great job. NIT’s is for excellence and they are institutes of national importance ,INI’s . Very soon, NIT’s will elbow out all colleges ,which includes IIIT IISTIISER and IIT’s. It is clearly declared in parliamentary note and look at vision 2025 of NIT’s. Government wants NIT’s to be Nalanda.
There is no good or bad NIT’s and it is system. Some are good because of PR or location. Basically, all NIT’s needs to be same except upgraded ones, which will take more time to reach NIt standards.
reputation abroad: NIT students are preferred option in Clatech than IIT counterparts. NIT students go for internship to top university in Netherlands or europe or US.
Institutes like IIIT are mere IT institutes . Hence they are limited in comaprison with NIT’s, which is massive and enormous.
number of Ph.d and Post docs are going to grow like anything in NIT’s as already 250 doctorates in NITK.
BITS pilani has no match for NIT except for placement and there is impact level research. They submit apper not in magazine like Nature etc.

Cutoff for DAIICT is around 8,000.

IIST,IISER cutoff is around 5000 in JEE examination,might go up this year.

hi sir! i am giving exams of xth standard icse board and i want to do +2 (non medical) in icse only.sir will it create any problem in future tests(IIT & AIEEE etc.) in relation to syllabus and pattern or i should migrate to cbse school. and why????
and my second question is that is coaching necessary or i may do my preparation at home by studying books and if coaching is necessary then -
1) may i join crash course after +2 or
2) full year coaching in +2 starting or
3) now at +1 starting and give reason please.

Shifting to CBSE board will not help you much, you will only gain a slight advantage and that too only if you prepare yourself and not join any coaching institutes.
I would suggest you to stick to ICSE and join a coaching institute and preparing on your own is real tough for IIT-JEE.
Also if you are really serious about cracking JEE then join crash course from +1.But remember that will affect your school studies and you will have to work really hard to cope up.If you join in +2 it becomes a bit easier for you to cope up as courses are a bit same in both school and coaching institute. But you lose out on important topics covered in 11th class. So its really your choice what you want to take.

My son has passes ATIT 2008 and received confirmation of the B. Tech ECE seat at ICFAITECH College, Hyderabad.
Now I came to know that the B. Tech degree issued by this college is not recognized by AICTE as it is a priviate university. Hence the passed out students can’t persue higher studies.

i got 15206 AIR.i got 387 state rank from tamilnadu.i want ECE or E&E.according to last year NIT surathkal survey i should make it into quite a few NIT’s.but since u are the god of such predictions.what do u think i might get?!also how is VIT as compared to NIT’s like bhopal,allahabad etc.PLS HELPPP!!!!!!

hey. aieee is out…….. your predictions for the lower ranks were exactly rite. ha ha. like in my case…….. at 125 ……. i ranked 30014……just like u said………. but as far as higher ranks. u were prob. wrong…. at 211….. my friend got an air of 1720

Let us not get too hung up on where to get admission, etc. No matter which University we go to, it is our performance inside that University that will count. Even more significant, what we do after getting our degree counts much more.
IITK is one example. Almost 90% of its graduates do nothing impressive in life. But, the rest 10% do very well and bring good name to IITK.
Be the best among peers no matter whiich school you are attending, or which employer you are with.

Hi..i hav got 85 marks in aieee 2009..my AIR is 176000 nd my punjab state rank is 5107.. I hav got 44000 AIR in architect and 900 state rank.. Can i get admission anywhere in punjab.. Plz reply soon..

i would want to know what was the closing rank of NSIT delhi(aieee quota)in 2008.i have checked through the website of NSIT but no success.i have got 9932 in aieee 2009.i have filled up the form and will be going for the counselling to delhi on the 20th of this month.i m interested in manufacturing process and automation engg. or even instrumentation and control.can my rank manage me to get somewhere in NSIT in the above desired stream.pls let me know as soon as possible. i have presently been allotted NIT jalandhar, (I and Cengg).but i prefer NSIT over NIT jalandhar.

i am in jiet guna.iam a dropper.i appeared in exams in 2009.i got jee eml 32000,in aieee 58447.
i have spent 1 semester in jiet.i got 9.4 pointer.
i missed iit in 2008 by 15 marks.
iwas ill in 2009 so could not perform better,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,tell me any way to get out of this college…………either on my pointers basis or lateral entry or anything,only jst let me get out of this……………..
