AIEEE 2008 Cutoff

The AIEEE 2008 Paper was held all across the country today. The paper had equal distribution of questions and marks in each subject. The paper had 35 questions in all three subjects and each question carried 3 marks for correct answer and -1 mark for incorrect answer. The Maths section had assertion and reasoning type questions while the Physics section had a passage. I have gone through the paper and have made the following analysis :
- The pattern change has made the paper a bit difficult
- No. of questions reduced to help students score more
- Overall difficulty level increased
- Physics was the toughest paper out of the three

I have gone over the paper thoroughly and have taken feedback from many students who appeared for AIEEE 2008 and have compiled the list of the rank you can expect on the marks you are expecting in AIEEE 2008.
Actual AIEEE 2007 ranks according to marks obtained in AIEEE 2007:
The comments are now getting repeated and it is not humanly possible to reply to all the comments. So I will answer the most general questions here itself.
- You can know your expected rank by looking at the table for expected AIEEE 2008 ranks posted by me above.
- Cutoff for AIEEE 2008 central counseling is expected to be about 80-85 marks if the number of seats are increased due to OBC quota else it will be about 95-100 marks
- Your admission to NITs and some of other institutes depends on the state you belong to as there are fixed number of seats allocated per state in each NIT.
- Take a look at this link to find out which institute you can get at your rank by searching for your state code and the category you belong to.
- Below you can find the cutoffs to some of the private institutes that take admission separately :
Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology : Around 8,000-9,000 AIR.
Jaypee Institute Of Information Technology, Noida :
CSE – About 16-17,000 , ECE- About 28,000, IT – About 30,000
Thapar University :
Punjab Quota : CSE – 9,000 , ECE – 7,500 , Mechanical – 13,000, ICE – 15000 , EEE – 17,500 , Civil – 23,000 , Chemical – 24,000 , BioTech – 21,000
Outside Punjab Quota : CSE – 6,500 , ECE – 6,200 , Mechanical – 8,700, ICE – 7,800 , EEE – 8,500 , Civil – 13,000 , Chemical – 11,000 , BioTech – 13,000
Punjab Engineering College :
The cutoffs given below are of first counseling.
LNM Institute of Information Technology – About 9-10,000
IIIT Hyderabad : About 2-2,500
IIIT Allahabad : About 4-5,000
Vellore Institute of Technology : Around 10-11,000 overall cutoff. For ECE branch : Around 6-7,000
Manipal University : CSE : 3,000 , ECE : 2,500 , IT: 4,000 , EEE : 3,500 , Mechanical : 4,500 , ICE : 6,000 , Chemical : 11,500 , BioTech : 8,000 , Printing Technology : 15,000

i have been waitlisted in bitsat & my marks are 271. also i got admission in manipal in B.E. mechanical. should i wait 4 bits hyderabad or go with manipal. reply soon as i have to leave 4 manipal on 12 july

My AIEEE rank is 8862. I want CSE/ ECE/ EEE in NITs. Which best unstitute can I get? Also I want to know the rank and importance of LNM Institute of Information Technology and my possibility of getting it.

My AIEEE AIR is 7253 & sr 202(bihar).I don’t have interest in studying CIVIL,META & IND.I have secured a seat in DA-IICT,also I am in waiting list of BITS(272).After Phase-1 of counselling I got IIITM,Gwalior.Pl. suggest d best option for me.From this year onwards DA-IICT is having 50% Gujarat quota & there r chances of more in coming years leading to which many faculty members are planning to leave & standard of d inst. will definitely fall.

Your site is very useful. But I am not sure whether you can suggest anything for B Arch. aspirant. My son got 44 State Rank (Jharkhand) and 1926 All India Rank in AIEEE-2008 for B Arch. In off campus online counselling he has not been allotted any college. Whether it is possible that he would get a seat in any college during on campus counselling. If not, please suggest some way – whether he can get seat in any other college(s) outside AIEEE for admission in B Arch Course. Please give your comments.
