AIEEE 2008 Cutoff

The AIEEE 2008 Paper was held all across the country today. The paper had equal distribution of questions and marks in each subject. The paper had 35 questions in all three subjects and each question carried 3 marks for correct answer and -1 mark for incorrect answer. The Maths section had assertion and reasoning type questions while the Physics section had a passage. I have gone through the paper and have made the following analysis :
- The pattern change has made the paper a bit difficult
- No. of questions reduced to help students score more
- Overall difficulty level increased
- Physics was the toughest paper out of the three

I have gone over the paper thoroughly and have taken feedback from many students who appeared for AIEEE 2008 and have compiled the list of the rank you can expect on the marks you are expecting in AIEEE 2008.
Actual AIEEE 2007 ranks according to marks obtained in AIEEE 2007:
The comments are now getting repeated and it is not humanly possible to reply to all the comments. So I will answer the most general questions here itself.
- You can know your expected rank by looking at the table for expected AIEEE 2008 ranks posted by me above.
- Cutoff for AIEEE 2008 central counseling is expected to be about 80-85 marks if the number of seats are increased due to OBC quota else it will be about 95-100 marks
- Your admission to NITs and some of other institutes depends on the state you belong to as there are fixed number of seats allocated per state in each NIT.
- Take a look at this link to find out which institute you can get at your rank by searching for your state code and the category you belong to.
- Below you can find the cutoffs to some of the private institutes that take admission separately :
Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology : Around 8,000-9,000 AIR.
Jaypee Institute Of Information Technology, Noida :
CSE – About 16-17,000 , ECE- About 28,000, IT – About 30,000
Thapar University :
Punjab Quota : CSE – 9,000 , ECE – 7,500 , Mechanical – 13,000, ICE – 15000 , EEE – 17,500 , Civil – 23,000 , Chemical – 24,000 , BioTech – 21,000
Outside Punjab Quota : CSE – 6,500 , ECE – 6,200 , Mechanical – 8,700, ICE – 7,800 , EEE – 8,500 , Civil – 13,000 , Chemical – 11,000 , BioTech – 13,000
Punjab Engineering College :
The cutoffs given below are of first counseling.
LNM Institute of Information Technology – About 9-10,000
IIIT Hyderabad : About 2-2,500
IIIT Allahabad : About 4-5,000
Vellore Institute of Technology : Around 10-11,000 overall cutoff. For ECE branch : Around 6-7,000
Manipal University : CSE : 3,000 , ECE : 2,500 , IT: 4,000 , EEE : 3,500 , Mechanical : 4,500 , ICE : 6,000 , Chemical : 11,500 , BioTech : 8,000 , Printing Technology : 15,000

am in a big dilemma……i have got 5 year mechanical in it-bhu but i am not so enthusiastic about it as i want to opt in for computer engineering.My aieee rank is 3720(air) and 62(sr) can u pls tell me the order of institutes i sud fill in aieee.

wat are my chances in pec and dce?If not through first counselling then through second counselling,wat are my chances?
what branches can i get in pec and dce?
I am troubled a lot sir.
I dont know wat to do with the aieee central counselling.

Dear sir,
I may get CSE at NIT, Surat and i am getting a confirmed seat at DA-IICT. What is preferable?
Also do you think with the introduction of Gujarat quota in DA-IICT, its reputation would fall.? In this case should brand NIT be better.?

Dear Ankur,
As an update to my previous post with 302 in BITSAT, she is offered msc(hons) Physics , dual degree at Hyderabad, in the first iteration. She may improve the offer in the subsequent iterations and likely to end up in 4 year BE(hons) in Mech, at one of the Bits campuses. Compared to integrated MTECh in IIT Roorkee in Geological technology do you think Bits would be better she lands up with either mech or EEE in any of the Bits campuses, and what do you think of the new hyderabad/Goa compared to IIT Roorkee offer.

I have secured 15,652 in aieee this year…I have appeares from rajasthan.i want to know whether i have chances of getting any of the NIT with
some respactable branch and college…sir i am not considering to get into NIT’S like silchar,srinagar,patna or durgapur.
I am taking nirma,diiact nd LNM into considration…should i prefer these over NIT’S which are not so good or with
not so good branch..!!!!
please give me the advice that which is the best option for me…please advice me as soon as possible…nd please

HI,
I urgently need help……. I got 220 rank in CEE (DCE) and 527 ( state rank 61 DELHI ) in AIEEE. In IIT counciling I got Mechanical in IT-BHU…….. I expect to get cse in NSIT ,IIIT Hyderabad or any NIT.
In your opinion what is the best avaulable option fof me.
Pls guide me sir.

Sir,
I am a IIT aspirant but got only 131 in JEE 2008,
my AIEEE AIR is 15300(State Rank 225),i am from gujarat(Vadodara) , so i want to get some good seat in SVNIT and start preparing for IIT, which course should i choose , my interest is CSE or ECE but according to offline counselling i will get only mech. at SVNIT,
but one of my friend is in SVNIT and he says last year at my rank it was easy to get ECE at SVNIT.what do u think, bcos the seat allocation pattern is completely diff. now.
what should i do , whether to take up any course and start at IIT prep or try to take up the choice course in any state if possible, what do u suggest
i am not taking drop so that i have a back drop just in case.
but i hav prepared for 2 years along with school and so couldnt conc. on IIT prep, will college be as demanding as school and will i be able to prepare for IIT along with college
