AIEEE 2008 Cutoff

The AIEEE 2008 Paper was held all across the country today. The paper had equal distribution of questions and marks in each subject. The paper had 35 questions in all three subjects and each question carried 3 marks for correct answer and -1 mark for incorrect answer. The Maths section had assertion and reasoning type questions while the Physics section had a passage. I have gone through the paper and have made the following analysis :
- The pattern change has made the paper a bit difficult
- No. of questions reduced to help students score more
- Overall difficulty level increased
- Physics was the toughest paper out of the three

I have gone over the paper thoroughly and have taken feedback from many students who appeared for AIEEE 2008 and have compiled the list of the rank you can expect on the marks you are expecting in AIEEE 2008.
Actual AIEEE 2007 ranks according to marks obtained in AIEEE 2007:
The comments are now getting repeated and it is not humanly possible to reply to all the comments. So I will answer the most general questions here itself.
- You can know your expected rank by looking at the table for expected AIEEE 2008 ranks posted by me above.
- Cutoff for AIEEE 2008 central counseling is expected to be about 80-85 marks if the number of seats are increased due to OBC quota else it will be about 95-100 marks
- Your admission to NITs and some of other institutes depends on the state you belong to as there are fixed number of seats allocated per state in each NIT.
- Take a look at this link to find out which institute you can get at your rank by searching for your state code and the category you belong to.
- Below you can find the cutoffs to some of the private institutes that take admission separately :
Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology : Around 8,000-9,000 AIR.
Jaypee Institute Of Information Technology, Noida :
CSE – About 16-17,000 , ECE- About 28,000, IT – About 30,000
Thapar University :
Punjab Quota : CSE – 9,000 , ECE – 7,500 , Mechanical – 13,000, ICE – 15000 , EEE – 17,500 , Civil – 23,000 , Chemical – 24,000 , BioTech – 21,000
Outside Punjab Quota : CSE – 6,500 , ECE – 6,200 , Mechanical – 8,700, ICE – 7,800 , EEE – 8,500 , Civil – 13,000 , Chemical – 11,000 , BioTech – 13,000
Punjab Engineering College :
The cutoffs given below are of first counseling.
LNM Institute of Information Technology – About 9-10,000
IIIT Hyderabad : About 2-2,500
IIIT Allahabad : About 4-5,000
Vellore Institute of Technology : Around 10-11,000 overall cutoff. For ECE branch : Around 6-7,000
Manipal University : CSE : 3,000 , ECE : 2,500 , IT: 4,000 , EEE : 3,500 , Mechanical : 4,500 , ICE : 6,000 , Chemical : 11,500 , BioTech : 8,000 , Printing Technology : 15,000

I have got ocean engg n naval architecture at iit Kharagpur, m also gettin electronics/cs in bits n nsit/dce. i wanted to know which option is better accordin to you considering placements n branch option m gettin?can u guide me abt the future prospects of this branch?have no specific inclination for any branch, so am confused.can the brand name of kgp compensate for the lose of branches in other institutions?n i think i would go for higher studies too later on den would d branch matter (if i go for mba or finance..)n wat if i go for ms wats d scope of this branch den

which is a better option electrical eng from NIT durgapur or ECE from jaypee NOIDA.
also i have got 256 in BITS so wat all can i get in BITS hyderabad and is it better than Jaypee , NIT

Sir i gt a rank 8690 in manipal uget 2008. do i stand ny chance of getting civil branch?at present 510 students hv left the university. cud u pls tell me the closing rank of civil branch in 2007.
