AIEEE 2008 Cutoff

The AIEEE 2008 Paper was held all across the country today. The paper had equal distribution of questions and marks in each subject. The paper had 35 questions in all three subjects and each question carried 3 marks for correct answer and -1 mark for incorrect answer. The Maths section had assertion and reasoning type questions while the Physics section had a passage. I have gone through the paper and have made the following analysis :
- The pattern change has made the paper a bit difficult
- No. of questions reduced to help students score more
- Overall difficulty level increased
- Physics was the toughest paper out of the three

I have gone over the paper thoroughly and have taken feedback from many students who appeared for AIEEE 2008 and have compiled the list of the rank you can expect on the marks you are expecting in AIEEE 2008.
Actual AIEEE 2007 ranks according to marks obtained in AIEEE 2007:
The comments are now getting repeated and it is not humanly possible to reply to all the comments. So I will answer the most general questions here itself.
- You can know your expected rank by looking at the table for expected AIEEE 2008 ranks posted by me above.
- Cutoff for AIEEE 2008 central counseling is expected to be about 80-85 marks if the number of seats are increased due to OBC quota else it will be about 95-100 marks
- Your admission to NITs and some of other institutes depends on the state you belong to as there are fixed number of seats allocated per state in each NIT.
- Take a look at this link to find out which institute you can get at your rank by searching for your state code and the category you belong to.
- Below you can find the cutoffs to some of the private institutes that take admission separately :
Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology : Around 8,000-9,000 AIR.
Jaypee Institute Of Information Technology, Noida :
CSE – About 16-17,000 , ECE- About 28,000, IT – About 30,000
Thapar University :
Punjab Quota : CSE – 9,000 , ECE – 7,500 , Mechanical – 13,000, ICE – 15000 , EEE – 17,500 , Civil – 23,000 , Chemical – 24,000 , BioTech – 21,000
Outside Punjab Quota : CSE – 6,500 , ECE – 6,200 , Mechanical – 8,700, ICE – 7,800 , EEE – 8,500 , Civil – 13,000 , Chemical – 11,000 , BioTech – 13,000
Punjab Engineering College :
The cutoffs given below are of first counseling.
LNM Institute of Information Technology – About 9-10,000
IIIT Hyderabad : About 2-2,500
IIIT Allahabad : About 4-5,000
Vellore Institute of Technology : Around 10-11,000 overall cutoff. For ECE branch : Around 6-7,000
Manipal University : CSE : 3,000 , ECE : 2,500 , IT: 4,000 , EEE : 3,500 , Mechanical : 4,500 , ICE : 6,000 , Chemical : 11,500 , BioTech : 8,000 , Printing Technology : 15,000

ok just wanted to knw which 1 wud u prefer b/w ymca faridabad,murthal,itm gurgaon
taking in account that it wud be hard for me to adjust in a hostel(i liv in delhi),but i hav heard that itm has a good hostel
k i have another ques as well does it make sence that u take ece but being a girl u knw that u might end up in an IT sector only,n i hav heard tat ece is a big pain……..

i hv got AIEEE rank 34362 nd haryana my state rank is 1438.will i get ant stream in YMCA?
i hv also got 2490 rank in RPET 2008 conducted on 22nd may 2008.
which one should i prefer ??

I Just wanted to know that …wedr it is necessary for a Deemed University to be approved by AICTE…
If The placement of that University is Outstanding…n Guys ovr their are get’g handsome packages…..N nearly All the Guys are get’g placement…Its UPES(University of Petroleum And energy Studies) Dehradun…….

hey hi!
my aieee rank is 54949 and after ist phase of counselling(haryana state),i m getting IT in lingaya’s faridabad.shud i go for 2nd counselling & try for ITM (electronics and instrumentation,acc to last year data the cut off for this trade was 82000) or just stick to lingaya’s.

My AIEEE rank is 17980. I have been selected for CSE in JP Noida. I have also got admission in JK Institute Allahabad. I have been told placements are good in both but JK is more reputed.I am unable to decide which is better.
