AIEEE 2008 Cutoff

The AIEEE 2008 Paper was held all across the country today. The paper had equal distribution of questions and marks in each subject. The paper had 35 questions in all three subjects and each question carried 3 marks for correct answer and -1 mark for incorrect answer. The Maths section had assertion and reasoning type questions while the Physics section had a passage. I have gone through the paper and have made the following analysis :
- The pattern change has made the paper a bit difficult
- No. of questions reduced to help students score more
- Overall difficulty level increased
- Physics was the toughest paper out of the three

I have gone over the paper thoroughly and have taken feedback from many students who appeared for AIEEE 2008 and have compiled the list of the rank you can expect on the marks you are expecting in AIEEE 2008.
Actual AIEEE 2007 ranks according to marks obtained in AIEEE 2007:
The comments are now getting repeated and it is not humanly possible to reply to all the comments. So I will answer the most general questions here itself.
- You can know your expected rank by looking at the table for expected AIEEE 2008 ranks posted by me above.
- Cutoff for AIEEE 2008 central counseling is expected to be about 80-85 marks if the number of seats are increased due to OBC quota else it will be about 95-100 marks
- Your admission to NITs and some of other institutes depends on the state you belong to as there are fixed number of seats allocated per state in each NIT.
- Take a look at this link to find out which institute you can get at your rank by searching for your state code and the category you belong to.
- Below you can find the cutoffs to some of the private institutes that take admission separately :
Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology : Around 8,000-9,000 AIR.
Jaypee Institute Of Information Technology, Noida :
CSE – About 16-17,000 , ECE- About 28,000, IT – About 30,000
Thapar University :
Punjab Quota : CSE – 9,000 , ECE – 7,500 , Mechanical – 13,000, ICE – 15000 , EEE – 17,500 , Civil – 23,000 , Chemical – 24,000 , BioTech – 21,000
Outside Punjab Quota : CSE – 6,500 , ECE – 6,200 , Mechanical – 8,700, ICE – 7,800 , EEE – 8,500 , Civil – 13,000 , Chemical – 11,000 , BioTech – 13,000
Punjab Engineering College :
The cutoffs given below are of first counseling.
LNM Institute of Information Technology – About 9-10,000
IIIT Hyderabad : About 2-2,500
IIIT Allahabad : About 4-5,000
Vellore Institute of Technology : Around 10-11,000 overall cutoff. For ECE branch : Around 6-7,000
Manipal University : CSE : 3,000 , ECE : 2,500 , IT: 4,000 , EEE : 3,500 , Mechanical : 4,500 , ICE : 6,000 , Chemical : 11,500 , BioTech : 8,000 , Printing Technology : 15,000

hey that rankings provided by outlook was totally crap……….some of the bad colleges were included …….as far as i know manipal is good but very costly…….and u can compare the infrastructure of jaypee colleges to any best college of country

I am ANKIT TOMAR.I took addmision in Hidustan college of science and technology MATHURA (U.P) (U.P.T.U).Now i want to change this college and i want to preparing for aieee. I passed 10+2 in 2007 from u.p.board.
Now i am very confused.Please help me.

i got 127 in aieee 2008.i did’nt get into any nit.Now i am doing b.tech(ECE) in VIT,wadala(mum University).Should i give it a try this year??

im preparin 4 iit jee.
i hav heard 4m my seniors dat livin conditions dere in iits n sum of top nits is not so gud.
educations standards r really high but d hostels,mess and oder buildings are really old.
my eder brodr is in bits pilani and he too feels d same.i hav seen bits pilani campus.its administrative block and lecture halls r gud bt d hostels r nt really up to mark.
is dis story is same 4 all top goverment colleges also??????????

Hey chirag..I am an alumni of DA-IICT..was just surfing the posts until I came across urs!!! boy..lemme state some facts which will clear ur gross misconceptions…Dun take my comments in the wrong light as I simply intend to tell u something about DA-IICT
1. DA-IICT isn’t AICTE approved but it has UGC approval which is more than sufficient…its a university by the state act…the reason daiict didnt go for aicte approval is that if it had gone for it, the entire course sturcture wld be according to AICTE…at the present moment DAIICT follows its own course curriculum which matches world class standards
2. about the placements, it was deeply annoying to read what u have written in ur article…thr s no way our students face problems in getting jobs in MNCs and pubic organizations..HP, Microsft, Deloitte, TI are some biggies which have been recruiting from our campus…well i havent even mentioned other soft. giants like TCS, infy, and a million others
3. about 30-40% of students every yr go for higher studies after passing out frm daiict ..be it MS, MBA , Mtech from world class institutions…so thr s no problem reg the fact that AICTE approval is nt bestowed on our college
4. the faculty, infrastructure, curriculum are top notch..well u got to be thr to believe it
In the end, our not having AICTE approval has never been an impediment to our stupendous growth since inception in 2001. So, i beg u to stop spreading rumours abt DA-IICT. if u dun know nything, dun comment or seek information from those who have it. DAIICT is one of the best engineering colleges in India and the quality of students is brilliant..it doesnt matter whether u believe it or not..

i am mayank ramteke from nagpur(m.h.).I have completed my 12th from madhya pradesh.My category is SC,i have my caste certificate which is issued by the authority in nagpur(maharashtra).So i want to know when i will participate in counselling, my state code will be madhya pradesh coz i have completed my 12th from madhya pradesh,but will i have my category benefit in that or not.Or i will be treated as general category in madhya pradesh while participating in MANIT.
