Maths was exceptionally tough….comparable to iit 2007 paper maths….chemistry was easy, physics moderate…But the 8 marks questions will be the decider…2009 year seeming to be the doomed year….iit paper was toughest with subjective questions….And now aieee…The state entrances were also tougher…
Yeah Math was pretty tough but physics n chem were good. Overall the paper was tougher than the previous years plus the negative marking system would push down the scores a little.
paper was more or less same as the previous.but the 8 marks question and negative marking of -2 may cause the huge difference in good qualifying marks.
yup.maths was the toughest.phy and chem were comparitively easy, making the maths score the key in deciding the rank to be excellent or good.
there were overall 30 questions per subject ,
with 24 questions with +4 , -1
and 6 questions with +8 , -2
the +8,-2 marking was kinda strange considering the level of these questions wasnt twice as high as the +4 ones.
can someone tell me the expected fall in avg (to get around 10k rank) due to the unexpected paper pattern(hoping that avg will be on the lower side this time )
chemistry was simple
physics was ok
maths had question fromm statistics,discrete mathematics and were a lot lenghty .
which made the maths section difficult.
well its really difficult predicting the average at this stage considering the really weird nd different marking scheme.the eight mark questions would have a major role in deciding the ranks.
I think the change in te pattern was really helpful..iot may b helpful for the students 2 score high,although 8-marks questions were a bit tougher…yes of course maths was toughest…and chem-physics were almost of same level!!!
Ankur first of all the total marks posted on the site is not correct that is it is of 432 marks and not 423 secondly the individual paper marks are 144.
The pattern was signified in the brochure already so it was not a suprise as they say and frankly the paper was easy and less shocking as it was last year since the 8 marks question were not tough but a little logical maths was not tough since some the questions were same in leading coachings test papers and some direct lines for the NCERT books expected cut-off should be a little bit higher.
I know all of you are in a hurry for the solutions. But you certainly don’t want half cooked solutions with loads of errors/mistakes, do you? Hang in there, solutions would be posted as soon as available!
Paper was easier as compared to last year. Nothing from Practical Chemistry or Physics. Number of Qs reduced from 105 to 90, but Qs were lengthy and many were calculation based. Marks pattern of Qs was unequal.Chemistry was simplest of all and covered almost all NCERT topics except practical chem.
Ranks within 25000 would be able to get into TOP 20 Engg Colleges in India ….. Gud Luk aspirants

Haha, no institute will risk ruining the reputation by coming out with half baked solutions. A lot of time and effort goes into getting the solutions ready. It isn’t as easy as it appears.
Dr Sangeetha Khanna the papers would look very easy(child’s play) outside the exam hall.the scenario is just the reverse in the hall when you are taken by surprise of the new pattern.so ankur when r u going to post the solutions
frndz…paper waz tricky…not because it involved tricks…but it appeared easy which created a scope for inevitable mistakes…physics was really very easy…chemistry was comprehensive n maths waz a bit troublesome coz of marks distribution!!!
I think d unequal marking scheme was unfair. It will hinder those candidates who happen to b weak in d particular topic covered by d question. 4 example, if an 8 mark question involves probability, and an otherwise good student happens to b weak in it, then his chances get hampered. D paper was tougher than last year. Even d coaching institutes haven’t been able to solve it yet.
Thanks for doing such a great job by making solutions of all institutes and required details available at one site. I’ll be waiting for the solution. Error-free solutions are much better than those cut out in a hurry. I Have attempted worth 244 and i expect to get above 200. Hope it will be good enough. Thanks again…

Yeah i agree with aakash. They should provide more space. We don’t have computers 4 brains u know. If they are concerned about saving paper, then they should give less questions. or maybe remove chemistry from d syllabus. thats y i carried a pencil to d hall. So i could rub out d rough work when i ran out of space.
The pattern was expected as the aieee brochure said that all the questions will be objective and 1/4rth of marks to be deducted for each wrong marking.So it was already figured out that questions will be of four marks.But the eight marks questions were a pleasant surprise as i don’t think they were too tough except those in maths.
even i agree wid u ppl…. its a limit…!!! just a 6-7cm width of rough page doesnt make sense at all…. my tym was wasted in rubbing the rough work…..n doing next…. hope this tym cut off gets lower….

Sir,I wrote my exam in Hyderabad,They gave us the paper at 9:50 am and took away the resonse sheet at 12:50 am.They did not even give extra time for filling in the response sheet or reading the intructions.The formalities of signing and checking the identities was also done during the 3 hrs…This took away atleast 15-20 min of our time sir….This is really bad considering all other centres gave the Q paper at 9:15am……WE HAVE TO BE COMPENSATED..CENTRE name–CHINMAYA VIDYALAYA Bengumpet–CENTRE CODE—203038….

The change in d marking scheme implies that if u guess, then even after negative marking, u gain marks. Like if u guess 4n questions, statistically, u will get n right nd 3n wrong. So that means +4n and -3n. So a gain of n marks. So i think d marking pattern is imperfect.
when i first saw the math part..initially i felt this will be tougher than the JEE paper…well..it turned out ok in the end….still i felt it was a bit tough. Wondering what rank i might get

One can get at least mechanical in any of the good nits
if he gets a rank better than 9000.And if one has a state eligibily of a state that has an nit than he stands a good chance even with ranks comparetively lower.
maths was the easiest but they could have given more working space chem was tougher

My invigilator distributed the papers and OMR at 9:25 today. In the hassle of starting the paper immediately I did not read the instructions. I thought that each of the 90 questions was followed +3/-.75 pattern.
It went so well for me, had I known that there were 8 mark questions I would have wasted alot of my time solving those.
I unintentionally, in order to cover the whole paper, attempted as many as 14 8 markers as well as 50 4 markers.
BTW, waiting desperately for the solutions.

Well..the paper had a twist this year ….those 8 marks questions were a give away and i think most of u will agree with me…thought maths made me work the most and chem the least …guess will have to wait to analyze the cutoff properly coz of the change in marking scheme!!

actually the paper was very good as compared to previous years.i personally feel that the paper has to be like this.as u can see this year iitjee was also good so it is a good news for us because level of paper never disturbs the merit nut the talented students are much benefited by this.

though maths was a bit lengthy..it was containing a lot of simple problems..specially related to roots,n vector ,problem probability was not tough…n also functions problem were simple. assertion reason problems were a bit tough as they are always.
all need to b done was to get a gud speed n reach these week links in ppr.
so according to me in maths a score up to 100 was reasonable.

There is always mismatch between the answer keys of different institutes and is tough to say which one is close to perfect. FIITJEE has known to be the most reliable for the years, wait for their solutions to come out and re-calculate your marks to get a rough approximate.

NIT Trichy, NIT Surathkal and MNIT Allahabad are the top NITs closely followed by MNIT Jaipur and others. You can check out the opening and closing ranks for these institutes from official AIEEE site and know the marks required from the cutoff table.

You have the expected rank and the last year cutoffs for all institutes that participated in central counseling, shouldn’t be tough to find out what you can get.

There are some variances in the solutions by different institutes. Ankur bhahiya, can you do something, such that we aspirants can discuss out on such conflicts?

Q1. both statements are true, but it should not be correct explanation, answer should be 3.
Most institutes have given 2.
Q8. most institutes say answer is 3, FIITJEE gives 4.
Q11. Correct answer is 1. some institutes have given 4.
Q29. It is compression, so work done [b]on the gas[/b] should be +, hence 2 should be answer, FIITJEE says 1.

Maths was exceptionally tough….comparable to iit 2007 paper maths….chemistry was easy, physics moderate…But the 8 marks questions will be the decider…2009 year seeming to be the doomed year….iit paper was toughest with subjective questions….And now aieee…The state entrances were also tougher…

Yeah Math was pretty tough but physics n chem were good. Overall the paper was tougher than the previous years plus the negative marking system would push down the scores a little.

yup.maths was the toughest.phy and chem were comparitively easy, making the maths score the key in deciding the rank to be excellent or good.
there were overall 30 questions per subject ,
with 24 questions with +4 , -1
and 6 questions with +8 , -2
the +8,-2 marking was kinda strange considering the level of these questions wasnt twice as high as the +4 ones.

well its really difficult predicting the average at this stage considering the really weird nd different marking scheme.the eight mark questions would have a major role in deciding the ranks.

I think the change in te pattern was really helpful..iot may b helpful for the students 2 score high,although 8-marks questions were a bit tougher…yes of course maths was toughest…and chem-physics were almost of same level!!!

Ankur first of all the total marks posted on the site is not correct that is it is of 432 marks and not 423 secondly the individual paper marks are 144.
The pattern was signified in the brochure already so it was not a suprise as they say and frankly the paper was easy and less shocking as it was last year since the 8 marks question were not tough but a little logical maths was not tough since some the questions were same in leading coachings test papers and some direct lines for the NCERT books expected cut-off should be a little bit higher.

Paper was easier as compared to last year. Nothing from Practical Chemistry or Physics. Number of Qs reduced from 105 to 90, but Qs were lengthy and many were calculation based. Marks pattern of Qs was unequal.Chemistry was simplest of all and covered almost all NCERT topics except practical chem.
Ranks within 25000 would be able to get into TOP 20 Engg Colleges in India ….. Gud Luk aspirants

Haha, no institute will risk ruining the reputation by coming out with half baked solutions. A lot of time and effort goes into getting the solutions ready. It isn’t as easy as it appears.

Dr Sangeetha Khanna the papers would look very easy(child’s play) outside the exam hall.the scenario is just the reverse in the hall when you are taken by surprise of the new pattern.so ankur when r u going to post the solutions

I think d unequal marking scheme was unfair. It will hinder those candidates who happen to b weak in d particular topic covered by d question. 4 example, if an 8 mark question involves probability, and an otherwise good student happens to b weak in it, then his chances get hampered. D paper was tougher than last year. Even d coaching institutes haven’t been able to solve it yet.

Yeah i agree with aakash. They should provide more space. We don’t have computers 4 brains u know. If they are concerned about saving paper, then they should give less questions.
or maybe remove chemistry from d syllabus.

The pattern was expected as the aieee brochure said that all the questions will be objective and 1/4rth of marks to be deducted for each wrong marking.So it was already figured out that questions will be of four marks.But the eight marks questions were a pleasant surprise as i don’t think they were too tough except those in maths.

Sir,I wrote my exam in Hyderabad,They gave us the paper at 9:50 am and took away the resonse sheet at 12:50 am.They did not even give extra time for filling in the response sheet or reading the intructions.The formalities of signing and checking the identities was also done during the 3 hrs…This took away atleast 15-20 min of our time sir….This is really bad considering all other centres gave the Q paper at 9:15am……WE HAVE TO BE COMPENSATED..CENTRE name–CHINMAYA VIDYALAYA Bengumpet–CENTRE CODE—203038….

I attempted about 75 questions and expecting marks in the range of 280-300 though it is too early to say before the solutions.

The change in d marking scheme implies that if u guess, then even after negative marking, u gain marks. Like if u guess 4n questions, statistically, u will get n right nd 3n wrong. So that means +4n and -3n. So a gain of n marks. So i think d marking pattern is imperfect.

if he gets a rank better than 9000.And if one has a state eligibily of a state that has an nit than he stands a good chance even with ranks comparetively lower.

My invigilator distributed the papers and OMR at 9:25 today. In the hassle of starting the paper immediately I did not read the instructions. I thought that each of the 90 questions was followed +3/-.75 pattern.
It went so well for me, had I known that there were 8 mark questions I would have wasted alot of my time solving those.
I unintentionally, in order to cover the whole paper, attempted as many as 14 8 markers as well as 50 4 markers.
BTW, waiting desperately for the solutions.

Well..the paper had a twist this year ….those 8 marks questions were a give away and i think most of u will agree with me…thought maths made me work the most and chem the least …guess will have to wait to analyze the cutoff properly coz of the change in marking scheme!!

Hey guys i think AIEEE 2009 was a standard paper..
Chem was easy..
Phys was moderate..
Maths was toughest..
(According to me)
I felt that this was the toughest of previous 3 years paper.And also,I think IITJEE was easier than this one.

i went thru ppr n was shocked to see that ..
though maths was a bit lengthy..it was containing a lot of simple problems..specially related to roots,n vector ,problem probability was not tough…n also functions problem were simple. assertion reason problems were a bit tough as they are always.
all need to b done was to get a gud speed n reach these week links in ppr.
so according to me in maths a score up to 100 was reasonable.

No offense meant, but does the poll actually help you or anybody else here? There are at least 85 people getting more than 400, constituting 7% of those who visited the site… if I am to believe it, I might just as well jump from the window of my building. If people can lie about them getting 400+, well, why trust other voters then?

There is always mismatch between the answer keys of different institutes and is tough to say which one is close to perfect. FIITJEE has known to be the most reliable for the years, wait for their solutions to come out and re-calculate your marks to get a rough approximate.

Yes, there is 50% state quota in NITs, refer the brochure.

NIT Trichy, NIT Surathkal and MNIT Allahabad are the top NITs closely followed by MNIT Jaipur and others. You can check out the opening and closing ranks for these institutes from official AIEEE site and know the marks required from the cutoff table.
You wasted precious time in erasing. In a competitive exam where 10 lakh odd students appear, every millisecond counts!

I checked the AIEEE website but found it to be extremely confusing.
Also I believe that the top rankers of AIEEE mostly also crack ITTJEE and BITSAT, so a lot of the top ranks are actually not even competing for seats, am I right?

There are some variances in the solutions by different institutes. Ankur bhahiya, can you do something, such that we aspirants can discuss out on such conflicts?
Set A
Q1. both statements are true, but it should not be correct explanation, answer should be 3.
Most institutes have given 2.
Q8. most institutes say answer is 3, FIITJEE gives 4.
Q11. Correct answer is 1. some institutes have given 4.
Q29. It is compression, so work done [b]on the gas[/b] should be +, hence 2 should be answer, FIITJEE says 1.

The solutions of all the institutions you have put up esp in maths differs greatly … I know you say that the FIITJEE solutions are highly reliable … bt this discrepancy in the answers really is confusing and it is very difficult to estimate your score .. I guess wht this means is that the paper ws really tough ..

That would be really really difficult if you see the number of institutes and number of branches in each of them.
Check out the FORM1 and FORM2 link to get first counseling cutoff link, and 2nd Counseling link for the second counseling cutoffs. All of these are available here.

State ranks are impossible to predict, to get a rough idea, ask someone from your state who got a rank close to what you are expecting.

Almost all of the top colleges’ opening and closing ranks are on official AIEEE website, check it out. Tough to say what to choose at that rank, best would to decide after you have got admission through both the counselings.

Well, the opening and closing ranks on AIEEE website give you a good idea about what to expect and you do no need to worry about top rankers leaving NITs for BITS/IITs etc as that happens every year. Check out reply to 261 to know how to see the list.

I m just fed up of our entrance exam system. this is not the way to judge a person’s intelligence. here if u answer 1 question wrong u may land somewere in hell i.e. your rank goes down by 1000 figures do u think if i answer just 1 question more than u do u feel i may be more intelligent than my friends who studiend th same or more no. of hours than me?

I was a droper this year,n just b4 the day of JEE result m giving my post although m not expecting any miraculous stuff tommorow,i just wanted to pose a question that what should students like me do when m not going to qualify for IITs???your answer would be AIEEE but,since my total attention was on JEE preperation,i ruined my AIEEE paper also.now i will have to take admission in any college through my state CET rank,means look at the way how my career splashed in a spilt of a second,though the sole resposible person for all this is i myself…but now i dont have any confidence left in me to jump and think about my future. i am getting the result fobia..so please someone help me out..and i know this is the case with many of my friends
