HDFC Bank is one of the better private sector banks that we have in India. My experience with them has been good till now. Now what got me interested in this bank was the Netsafe facility that the bank offers. The Netsafe facility allows you to create Virtual Credit Cards online which can be used like normal credit cards for shopping on the net.You can also verify your Paypal account using HDFC Netsafe service, instructions at bottom.

With this facility you do not need to expose your actual credit/debit card number online and hence be assured of piece of mind. To get started you need to have a HDFC Bank account and a HDFC Debit Card or a HDFC Bank Credit card.

Step 1: Open Netsafe service website

Go to the Netsafe service by visiting this link on the HDFC website and then click Login to Netsafe

Step 2: Register for Netsafe service.

You need to register for Netsafe service in order to use it.

Step 3: Click on I Accept button to continue.

Step 4: Enter your Credit/Debit Card number and expiry details and click Submit.

Step 5: Enter your PIN number and click Submit.

Step 6: Enter your mobile number, secret text and other personal details.

Step 7: Enter a unique username and password for your account. Your account is now set up.

Step 8: Login to Netsafe service.

Step 9: Enter the amount of the VCC you want to create in the Limit column and click Go.

Step 10: You will then be presented with the Virtual Credit Card details which you have to use within 24 hours.

How to view the transaction details after using the VCC:

Step 1: Visit the All Accounts/Services link on the home page of Netsafe service.

Step 2: Click on Txn. Details button at the bottom and you will be presented with the transaction details.

Digital cameras are essential for capturing unforgettable moments of your life. In the past, films were used, but later on trend has changed and digital cameras have started to arrive in the markets. To store all the images in the camera, it is necessary to have good memory. This memory requirement has been fulfilled by using memory cards. All the digital cameras has the ability to hold memory cards in it. The user has to pick a right memory card and it is not a tough job, provided you have to know about memory cards. The response speed of the camera is always determined by the usage of the memory cards. Digital cameras have 2 types of memory called buffer and main memory. Buffer is a temporary memory in which data will be stored faster. Hereafter the data will be stored in a permanent memory called “flash memory and it is the main memory of the device. Some high end models permits you to take the second picture, when the first picture is being transmitted to the flash memory.

House cleaning is considered as an issue among the users. It is nothing but reconfiguration of the flash memory. While you erase an unwanted image from the memory card, the flash memory card will be reconfigured automatically. But the memory capacity is high, you have to wait for 2 or 3 minutes. The small memory cards will take less time for this house cleaning. Therefore it is advisable not to erase an image when you capture images.

While browsing the net I came across this article which talks about this BlogBackupOnline service which automatically backups your blog posts sans the images and video and stores them in your account so that you can use it if you lose your blog data somehow.

This service is a boon for lazy users like me who donot like to take regular backups..

Here is a quote from the article which describes the utility of this service perfectly.

Registering your blog (or anyone else’s for that matter) is easy, just give it the URL, and if the site is on a popular blogging platform like Blogger, TypePad, or WordPress, it will start backing up posts right away. You don’t actually need to give it your login or password to get things going, BlogBackupOnline will simply go through and scrape posts. Once blogs have been registered with the service, backup is automated, so you don’t have to worry about it.

Users get 50MB of storage, which might not sound like a lot, but keep in mind the tool is only grabbing text and HTML formatting code, not pictures, videos, or any other related files. If you do run out of space, (for now) the service is offering users extra room for people who hit the storage ceiling.

All posts are stored in a reader that lets you see a quick preview of what they look like, along with the option to send single or multiple posts back to your blog in the event your data is lost or corrupted. BlogBackupOnline also grabs user comments, so if there’s a particularly interesting discussion thread, you can recover that too.

So now no more hasseles when you lose your blog data if you had been using this service

In today’s world where everyone is becoming net savvy, making money while browsing does make some sense, hence making use of one’s time along with doing some creative work and also enjoying along with it is what I am going to talk about in this post of mine.

While browsing some of the sites related to this topic I came across Robert’s site which shares the same convictions as I do.He too was a simple guy who got interested in making online. He started with 0$ in his pocket and now earns around 1000$ per month.Seems like a fairytale but you better believe it.

He started earning from ebay by buying and selling stuff and earning some profits from that.Getting a head-start he headed into the domain selling business and managed to sell domains and making good profits from there. He managed to get hold a good site for only 40$ and then auctioned it for 125$ on another site…Thats pretty good thinking..

As you can already see,one doesn’t require the skills or a programmer to earn big bucks but just some research and you are on your way.

But this wasn’t the end of his success story…He started a website and soon it became popular and it still earning around 500$ per month from Google Adsense and also by doing other jobs.

Hence it is not a difficult task to make money but the magnitude of your earnings reflect the amount of hard work you are willing to put into it.

Windows Vista is on the shelves! Available for the general public, not only for enterprises, everyone can upgrade the current Windows XP or buy the brand new OS from Microsoft.

Due to different reasons like high hardware requirements, software incompatibility or the price, some people cannot afford to do the migration, at least not in the near future. Of course there are also the conservative users who attached themselves too much to the XP that now they hesitate to make the move believing in its endurance.

For either of the cases presented above, I thought it would be interesting and useful to present you some Vista feature alternatives available for Windows XP. The presentation will consist in showing some Vista features and linked to them, the alternative for the XP users.

The New Vista look

Windows Vista includes a redesigned user interface and visual style, named Windows Aero. Aero is intended to be cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing than previous Windows versions, including transparencies, window animations and eye candy.

Solution:

In order to transform the ordinary Windows XP visual style into a Vista-like one you need to use a Windows theme that resembles to the original one created by Microsoft. The only problem is that Windows XP can use only Microsoft themes. While Microsoft didn’t bother to create and provide a Vista-like theme for the XP users, you need to use a custom made one. Thank God, there are plenty of themes available for free. For instance, I can recommend you to try Royale Vista, a great looking theme that includes wallpapers and fonts, all to create a similar look to Vista. Back to the compatibility problem, it can be fixed. Click here to consult a detailed guide and you will get a brand new look for your XP.

Windows Sidebar

Windows Sidebar is a new panel on the right-hand side of the screen where a user can place Desktop Gadgets, which are small applets designed for a specialized purpose (such as displaying the weather or sports scores). The gadgets can also be placed on other parts of the desktop, if desired. By default, Windows Vista ships with thirteen gadgets: Calculator, Clock, CPU Meter, Currency Conversion, Feed Viewer, Feed Watcher, Notes, Number Puzzle, Picture Puzzle, Recycle Bin, Slide Show, Stocks, and an egg timer. Additional gadgets are published at Microsoft’s web site, which offers both Microsoft-created and user-submitted gadgets in a gallery.

Solution:

Tempting? Don’t worry, I got the replacement! Desktop Sidebar created by Sidebar XP is a nice and free application ready for Windows XP. It offers all kind of utilities like: search bar, Winamp panel, disk monitor, media player, inbox panel etc. No charge!

Another solution would be using Google Desktop. Acting like a sidebar too, Google Desktop works as a holder for gadgets. You can install as many gadgets you may want, all for free. Just download what you need and place it on the sidebar.

Windows Flip and Flip 3D

When using Alt+Tab to switch between open windows, a preview of each open window appears instead of just the program icon. In addition, Windows Flip 3D enables you to flip through a cascading stack of your open windows using the mouse scroll wheel. Windows can be stacked and rotated in 3D to provide views of all of them simultaneously.

Solution:

Do not believe that Windows XP is obsolete because it does not offer cool visual effects when switching between windows. Why don’t you try TopDesk? It manages to bring the amazing flipping and tiling effects from Vista on Windows XP. Thumbnail view, 2D view and even 3D view of the windows can be done using shortcuts; floating buttons are mouse sensitive areas. Please consult the TopDesk review for a complete image of this cool application.

Internet Explorer 7

Windows Vista includes the latest version of Internet Explorer, which adds support for tabbed browsing, Atom, RSS, internationalized domain names, a search box, a phishing filter, an anti-spoofing URL engine, fine-grained control over ActiveX add-ons, thumbnails of all open tabs in a single window (called Quick Tabs), page zoom, and tab groups. Tab groups make it possible to open a folder of Favorites in tabs with a single click.

Solution:

Finally, Microsoft created their first browser tab capable. Lots of IE users migrated to Firefox or other browsers in search of better security and tabbed browsing. Now they can be recovered with the launch of Internet Explorer 7. IE 7 is NOT Vista limited! It can be installed on your Windows XP free of charge with just one condition: the Windows XP you are running must be genuine. To obtain a free copy of the new IE browser, click here!

Media Player 11

Windows Media Player 11 features a fully revamped interface. The Media Library is now presented without the category trees which were prominent in the earlier versions. Rather, on selecting the category in the left pane, the contents appear on the right, in a graphical manner with thumbnails – a stark departure from textual presentation of information. Search has been upgraded to be much faster.

Solution:

Just like Internet Explorer 7, Windows Media player is Windows XP ready. Take advantage of the new look and functions of Media Player 11. To get a full copy, click here. Make sure you are using a genuine copy of Windows XP or the installation won’t continue if the validation check fails.
