A lot of you have been curious to know what will the expected cut-off for BITSAT this year.I don’t promise to give you exact cut-off but can assure you a rough approximation that will bring you closer to reality.

So as you can see its pretty much above 300 except for some lower rung courses.According to me cut-off will dip this year by atleast 10 marks if not more.I have quite a few reasons to believe so but would not like to discuss about them.
So 274 might be the cut-off for M.Sc.(Hons.): Biological Sciences in BITS,Goa which is the least preferred course.

Sorry guys for not replying but i think that I cannot pin-point each branch’s cutoff and that too for each iteration as you people demand…
Its just wait and watch game for you to figure out what you get in the end…

And yeah to those who are still haven’t decided where to go…A bit of advice…
Take anything at IIT…
Then take IIITs….then BITS Pilani…then NIT warangal,trichy ,then BITS Pilani Goa Campus…then regional colleges that you have in your state like we have DCE/NSIT here in Delhi…
Believe me that you wont regret your decision later…Don’t give branch the utmost importance in these colleges…

my bitsat score is 281…though the cutoff fr d 2nd list was 281,yet i was not allotted ne branch.now,when d 3rd list has come and d cutoff has dipped to 276,still i am on d waiting list.in d application form, i hav filled up all d choices except bio. sc. and b.pharm…..wht do u say-do i hav ne chance in d 4th iteration??????

Dear Sir,
My son has a BITSAT-2007 score of 281.Does he have a realistic chance of getting MSc (Chem) in BITS Goa. Currently he has taken admission in VIT for EEE course. In case he gets anything in BITS (including MSc) I plan to changeover to BITS. Your views on my approach.
My understanding is that every student in dual degree program get a option for BE degree in second year. Branch choice is based on first year GPA. Is this understanding correct.

Dear Sir,
One of our friends had given us the info that an Msc. (Hons.) student can upgrade his stream to a more sought after BE course after 1st year depending on his CGPA. A 6.5 CGPA can get him Chemical. So I would like to ask whether the same is possible for a student getting a BE course? For eg. if I get Chemical in Pilani can I upgrade it to EEE after 1st year. For such an upgradation what would be the minimum CGPA required?

well dude, i am in a sort of fix right now. i have got 314 in bitsat and have been placed in the waiting list in the first iteration.and through aieee counselling have got admission in nit jaipur computer engineering…but i really wanna go to bits..even goa will do..so i have some questions for u and i hope u will answer them and help me….
Q.1 Will i be able to get, at least, b.tech mechanical in bits goa in the 2nd or 3rd iteration?
Q.2 If i get into bits goa with mech, should i go there or continue with nit jaipur computers?
Q.3 Many people say that bits goa is a new institute and i should not trust it.But i believe that it still has the name of bits behind it and the degree i get from goa will hold the same value as that from bits pilani. Am i right in thinking so?
Q.4 Can you also enlighten me about the upgradation process in bits and how many students are actually given that opportunity?
Your help will mean a lot to me……………..

It’s a great feeling that in India one has the ability to predict the correct cut off marks , which bacame the great source of strategic inspiration for all the aspirants. My daughter got 308 in BiTS and in first iteration got M.Sc Chem(Hons.) . Do you think that she can get Mechanical or any branch of electronics in 2nd or 3rd iteration either in Pilani or Goa?

Well its very difficult to choose between BITS Pilani and IIIT Allahabad….
Its more of your call actually….both are equally good…look for other factors such as location,food,culture and accommodation to decide which one to choose…

I also did a bit of research and came to know that MSc(Tech) courses are not dual degree courses they are somewhat like Diploma courses and you donot get a BE degree in them…
Msc.(Hons) courses are dual degree courses…after 1st year according to your CGPA you get to chose the BE course you want…4.5 CGPA get civil and 6.5 chemical or something…so its nt difficult to get a BE course after first year…
As far as your question is concerned about 100% conformation of getting a BE course after 1st year I really dont know about that…contact the BITS students for more info about that…but if they are dual degree than one should definitely get a BE course after 1st year…

yeah this form 1,form 2 is very difficult to fill…form one you should fill according to your preferences according to institutes and branches…form 2 should be filled on the basis of what you expect in other counsellings,so select only select better institutes in form 2…
You will definitely get Msc. in Goa if not Pilani but it seems you will Msc. in pilani..

you will not get CSE in either of the campus it seems….yes you can shift campus only if your name comes in the other campus in an iteration…

my son secured 295 at BITSAT so as you would know he is on the waiting list. his AIEEE AIR is in 14,400s where as state (Gujarat) rank is 158. he has very good skills with the computer to be modest. so what would you suggest: Surat NIT Computers or whatever he gets at BITS?

i hv done a lot of research and collected information abt the topic iit vs others and iit vs bits
i hv come to the followin conclusions –:
-one should take iit at ny cost
why ?
-iit has a gr8 fame outside the country so u can easily get into a great university abroad
-again if u r not gettin a very good branch in iit then too u should take it cause u can work hard for the first year and based on ur cgpa change ur branch
-some companies offer jobs for iitians only even after doin a civil from IIT u can get a good jjob in infosys
how ??
THE big companies recruit IITians not because they hv studied in IIT but because they can work hard for 2 years for gettin into IIT they have the potential to work hard they can beat all others in their feild
-morever in iit many courses r same for 2 years initially so if u can do some stuff by urself then or without doin nything urself also company recruits u and trains u for 6 months
also after this they give u a good job then u get some experience as a coder from infosys or wipro then u can apply for jobs outside india
now the international company will hire iitian of civil for codin how??
cause u hv worked in infosys etc then they will see ur experience they wont ask 4 ur degree cause they know that u hv the potential
-so bottom line is that u should take a branch even if u not like it IN iit than takin a branch that u like in ny other college in INDIA

Dear Ankur,
Though this issue has been posted by so many BITS aspirants, I still want to be doubly sure :
A student doing MSc (Grup B course) is 100% assured Group A course (BE/B.pharma) after 1st year.
Only the branch assignment will vary depending upon CGPA.
So could we say 100% that a BITS Goa MSc student will get a BE (B.Pharma not being in Goa).
So least he/she can expect is BE - Chemical and best as BE-CS.
Please confirm.

okay dude the cut-off has dipped. and i guess the waiting list closed at 280 last time and the cut-off was 283, and this time the waiting list closes at 260. so if we look at it that way the cut-off might dip by even 20 marks.
so what’s keeping me curious is that my score here at BITSAT was 295 and my AIEEE gujarat state rank is 158 (AIR: 14,400-ish, don’t remember exactly). (while other data not of concern is i am on the extended list of of IIT-JEE and VIT i was some 5000-ish, again don’t remember exactly.) so again the BIG question is:
what best would you recommend?

Hey Ankur, my bitsat score is 335. At present, I have been alloted Electronics and Instrumentation at Goa campus. My higher preferences are CS in Pilani, EEE in Pilani, EIE in Pilani, EEE in Goa campus, CS in Goa campus, in that order. What are my chances of sliding up to any of the courses in Pilani. As expected the cutoff for BITS has fallen drastically which I had predicted earlier but then many of you doubted that…
Last year the cutoff for 1st iteration was 317…so there has been a dip of 13 marks this time…
I am sure that final cutoff will also be lower by 10 marks or so…
And if you have been wondering where I have been all these days lemme tell you that my net was not working for the past week and before that I was busy deciding my future college…But I am back to answer all your queries…

Its simple…they will go according to your preferences and then accordong to your BITSAT score they will see which is highest option that you can get according to your marks and allot you that…

My son’s BITSAT score is 329. Today in the first iteration he got Mechanical in Goa. This was our 7th preference in the list we submitted to BITS. My query is where will he land up after 2nd iteration? We have given our 6th preference as MSc (Phy) in Pilani and 5th as Mechanical in Pilani. The first four options were Electronics stream. Iam not clear about the sliding concept. Will the exercised of 2nd iteration be based on merit list i.e., BITSAT score of 329 or his 6th prefernce of MSc Physics will override? Please clarify about the sliding exercise.

there is no harm in filling the form as you are on the borderline…

337 is definitely not going to get u comp or eee in pilani
but both are possible in goa
but then iiit h is renowed for its comp sci and e&c course
but are pretty much neck to neck in terms of academics and cost of expense
im also in a similar dilema but the think is im getting comp in pilani also
if ur really incined towards comps maybe iiit wins hre

i m sure of getting electronics in nit surat but i believe it does not hav a very good reputation….after reading your blogs i hope of getting msc in goa or at the most chemical (BE) in goa…..wht should i opt for….nit surat or bits goa……with my aieee air do i stand a chance in daiict

Ankur,
I got 337 in BITSAT2007 & an AIR of 1609 in AIEEE2007.
My desire is to study Electronics/computer science. Should I take a chance at BITS (I really like what I’ve heard about this place, and I have friends there); or should I go to IIIT Hyderabad, where I’m sure to get CSE (but about which institute I know little)?
Please advise!

i really appreciate ur commendable task of helping stressed students like us.i have analysed that the cut offs would definitely dip this yr.around 180-200 students lie on each mark.if we take up 25 mark up frm 275,we might have around 3500-4000 students in 275-300 range at minimum.so this tr 1000 less students have scored over 300.this implies that the cut off would definitely dip.i appreciate ur intelligence sir.
i want to ask a ques-which is better,msc information tech at bits pilani or mechanical at bits goa.my bitsat score 307.wat is this msc infm. sys. course??does it provide an engineering degree?? plz answer my 2 ques.ive to submit my preference for admission at bits.

the stats are more or less the same as last year
SO I EXPECT THE CUTOFFS TO REMAIN MORE OR LESS THE SAME THIS YEAR AS WELL

abt the reason for explaning the gap,when actually do they ask the reason
havent they already accepted the reason given along with the apllication forum,or will they ask again at time of registration!

this time students b/w 250-275 in bits are 4637
and 275and above are 7397
so approx how many students will be above 300
last year it was 4715
i think it should be not more than last year
so cut off will dec.

i m getting aieee air 16076, dce rank 1281……
What do you suggest now.??
i guess ill get sumthing in bits…but what?
but shud i leave vit for that chance.?
i m not expecting much from aieee..or with dce.

Hi Ankur,
It surprised everybody and specially me. I was all the time advocating a cut in cut off but now I feel it may go up by at least 10 points. I feel it’s a waste of time and money to fill a form having score of only 281. Ankur what do you feel!!!

GR8 surprise to all and shocking too.
A total of 67328 candidates appeared in the tests.
No of candidates who have scored 275 and above - 7397
No of candidates who have scored 250 and above - 12034
Whereas last year the statistics were not so harsh::
No of candidates who appeared: 53842
No of Candidates with score >= 300: 4715
No of Candidates with score >= 250: 11696

You will get mechanical or better in Pilani thats for sure…You might get Electronics & Instrumentation also..

plz tell me the preference order 2 b filled 4 bits.Though i have already filled it and sent it:
B.E.(hons) programmes as per my choices
then i have filled 2 M Sc courses of Pilani and then below it civil(pilani)
After that i filled remaining M Sc courses of pilani and Goa.
Then Information System of both p & g .

I have also come accross these marks. Is it possible to get other ranks like JEE, AIEEE and CEE for these high scorer. This may give an idea. I am also following BITS Pilani forum and their poll on BITSAT score but so far only two have scored >400.
The stats at their site is out of total 65
>400 - 2
>350 - 5
>300 - 37
>250 - 18
>200 - 3
There is a clear indication that participation is very thin below 275 as they feel they have no chance at all.

Thanks for your nice service to the needy students who are in distress. My daughter got 308 in BITSAT. What courses she can get in either Pilani or Goa? By the way she got 92 ranks in WBJEE. Do you sugeest for Electronics in Jadavpur?
