IIT JEE 2009 Cutoff
IIT JEE 2009 exam held all across India today was given by lakhs of students. There have been mixed reports from students regarding the paper while some have called it tougher and lengthier than last year paper, the others have found it easy. Maths was certainly the toughest part and everyone agrees on that.
While last year’s cutoff for general category was 180 marks (AIR 6773), this time it would almost remain same as paper was bit easier and seats are also being increased. You can check out the IIT JEE 2009 Solutions from various institutes across India. The expected cutoff for IIT JEE 2009 should be around 175. The final expected cutoff for IIT JEE 2009 is now published below. Check your expected ranks from the table below.

Total Seats this year : 8000 ( General category)
I am not touching upon the cutoff for Extended Merit List which would obviously be greater than 10,000. Please DO NOT ask what rank you can expect for given marks as the table has been published for that specific purpose only. Other queries are definitely welcome and I would try to answer as many as possible.
Opening and Closing ranks for all branches in various IITs available here. To know branch codes ” Just take the Information Brochure for IIT JEE 2009, also available here. Count from the beginning. You will get the code. For example Computer Science counts 10 and if you want it in Madras the code is M10. Thats it! ” (Taken from comment by A.Guru.Prakash(245).

the subjective part made the paper very tough as it demanded high accuracy. physics was easy and chemistry also. maths was bit tricky. i think cutoff will dip this year as paper was tough as compared to last year.

I think the paper was badly made. It would help those who keep solving tough sums before getting basics clear. 2007’s paper was the best. It was slightly easier, but it required much more logic.
Maths was awful. Compare this year’s coordinate with last years!

acc to me cuttoff marks may fall down this year
bcz to bassically two reasons:
1.the first is that the paper was toughest as compared to last year especially maths
2.and second reason is that the colleges of iit has been increased this year.(seats are also increased)
but the cutt off should fall down this year.

paper 2 was easy…..
paper 1 was solely targeting the students of class xii,
coz some ques hv been picked up directly frm ncert txtbook…
iit will definitely be able to decrease d selection of droppers to a large extent….
also d paper targeted xii students who prepare honestly for boards….
acc 2 me cutoff 4 gen category should be 160-170…

Yeah, i think same here….
the first paper was easy especially physics, while second one contained subjectives which made it difficult….
i guess cutoffs wud dip this year….

Certainly the second paper was a bit tough.but, the first paper was much simpler. I think that the overall average should be nearly same as in JEE08.

none of the subjective questions require more than a minute to solve. I gues it gives u 32 marks for free, if u’ve been just a little bit thorough with ur studies!!
