Hi this is ankit ,student of IIT.
i hav just seen the JEE paper and in my point of view the cutoff would be aroun 180 but to get a decent rank like 2000 u hav to fetch around 235.
as my experience says the 1st one was quiet easy and u can easily fetch 150.2nd one was bit tricky and the tougher part of that is subjective one which have no options.
all in all the paper was decent.

I am a student of IIT Kharagpur. The first paper at a glance seems easy, and would be high scoring, but the subjective part in the second paper would make the cut off go down, on interacting with the students i found many of them had no clue. Compared to my last years paper, i would say the cutoff would go down marginally.

hi, this is satyajeet sonal from NIT i have seen the jee paper now ,,,,first paper was easy as compared to 2nd paper i m expecting the cuttoff would be 190+,,,but at all i wanna say iit have maintained the level and papers was really very good ,,,but as the no. of students as well as seats are increasing day by day so cut off will be more than just 190…..

According to me, Chemistry was facile. Mathematics and mediocre. Physics Paper-2 was tricky, that’s what I felt and actually lacked.

I have seen the paper..I was quite easy..
According to me the cutoff would be around 180-185
To get rank below 1000 one have to cross 280 mark..
250 will fetch u rank abt 1700..

IIT has truly shown its standards .Maths was really mind bogling , Chemistry was a bit easy ,physics was moderate .Overall the paper tougher than last year one . I expect cutoff should dip this year.

Individual cutoffs should not matter much as pointer out by tarun(82). Also history shows that Bansal Classes solutions are the most reliable along with FIITEE solutions.

paper1 was below average.it will raise the cut-off compared to last year’s.paper2 was ok.scoring may go low due to more negative markings compared to last year.
cut-off may be 185-195.

Narayana’s many answers in Chemistry( Match-type) appear to be wrong. Answers by TIME are best. There is one mistake in Bansals ( Chemistry). Inorganic & Organic Mechanism domintated the paper, which students normally ignore and some tutors donot teach & misguide to avoid inorganic.. Extensive preparation was required for this kind of paper.
Anyhow , this time paper was of good standards. Selective study wiould not bring results.

guyz..dere is a wrong answer in time’s solutions-paper2 organic chemistry subjective-in which dey hav asked to write the total no. of cyclic isomers..the time inst. hav even drawn the double bonded isomers..since the degree of unsaturation in the given molecular formula is only one..so we cannot hav a double bond n a ring together..the correct answer shud be 7..

Hi I’m a student of BITS pilani. I just saw the paper. It was a pretty decent paper . In any kind of paper, if you get a score of >300, you can expect a rank under 800.
I think the population of students with marks between 220-240 will be a lot. The paper was easy compared to last year. Chem was scoring. Physics paper 2 was easy. Introduction of subjective question can help in better filtering of the students.

hey…,congrats to all of those future iitians.
well iam an iitian myself.i cracked the exam last year.my rank was 3231 and am doing elec engg from iit punjab
i saw the paper.it seemed easier than last time,but the pattern was a low scoring one.
i expect the rank predictions to stay the same as last year,otherwise drop but an chance of increase wont be substantial.
dont feel disheartened by ppl who claim to have walked thru the paper,they always want to see others down,u get more than 205,u are sure to get into some or the other iit

Hello ,
I am IIT-D first year student..I appeared in JEE 2008 and my AIR was 764..
Since many of my friends have given the paper so i would like to tell that paper was no way easy as it seems when you first look at it ..
Exam environment is always different as you there are so many surprises awaiting for you like subjective questions..
In my opinion the cut off wont vary much that last year, it may go down so you can relax..The only point which can create problem is that there were some questions which were simple so the bulk may come a bit early this time..
All in all the cut offs will remain same ..Do not panic if you see weird cut offs ..Students also post fake marks..So chill out if you are scoring above 240..
Cut-off as last year will be round about 270..

The Paper was very much easier than expected, Chem was damn scoring and yeah phy was a bit tricky. Maths was as usual time consuming. The integer answer questions should not be taken as subjectives coz u knew the answers wud be between 0-9 that made things easy.
overall cutoff shud go around 190-205 marks and dont worry about subject wise cutoffs coz it’ll not matter as it goes very very low.

Dont feel that jee is not so much tough, it is being tested on pure basics.If you write the examination with peaceful mind definitely you will score good marks.So for jee analysation skills and clarity of thinking plays very role.

hey guys,
finally this year’s IIT-JEE is over…congratulations to all those who fought the toughest battle of academic arena in the world…well i m an IITian myself…doing electrical engineering from kgp…the paper seems to be easier than JEE 08 but guys JEE is JEE…those who have not taken it and say that its easy by just seeing the paper isnt done…ask the one who ran through all his brain for those six hours…anyway some might feel it was easy…definitely its easier than JEE08 but i think cut off would remain somewhere in between 170-180 because this year even seats have increased to 7200…so i think those getting above 200 are surely IITians…feel proud(although nothing is official) but do not screw up other exams as they too are important…all the best guys…

Dude dont b discouraged,cut-off wont b more than 150-155,u shud knw that u r writing IIT and even having -ve marking in multiple answer questions,subjective ones & increase in seats makes no sense for cut-off 2 b more than 155.Even last year it was 172.Those boasting of high marks,just hide ur excitement till d confirmed answers r out,even bansal classes can make corrections. ALL THE BEST TO THE DESERVERS.!

Don’t worry about ur jobs now.
U have to work hard after ur entrance.
Clearing an entrance and getting into a gud college doesn’t mean that you will get whatever u want.
Those who don’t make into IIt’s may also get good jobs….
So no need to worry if you have screwed ur paper prepare for the next oppourtunity.

1.) negative marking in multiple choice..
2.) total 24 subjective qstns.
3.) no assertion reason qstns, wch save lot of time.

Hi,just saw the paper.The pattern was quite different from that of 2008.I gave the exam last year & got air 95.The cut – off this year is likely to be in the range of 150 owing to -ve marking & increased intake.Top 100 should be over at around 345.Best of luck to all.

I have got 145 as per Career Point Solutions. I want to drop a year and prepare exclusively for IIT-JEE and appear again next year and I don’t want to join a college this year thru’ AIEEE because it will prevent me from studying properly for JEE.
However, I am expecting the following marks in CBSE boards-
Phy – 70
Chem – 70
Math – 55
Computer & English – Above 90 in both
Will I be eligible next year if I qualify the JEE? Also, can IIT change the minimum qualifying marks in baord exams to 80% as I saw in some newspapers a few months back and if so, will they allow a one-time exception for droppers?

yes aditya i think in the match the following of paper 2 in maths the 2 parts
1. value of k for which planes intersect at infinite number of points. answer should only be 2 since if 4 then planes 2 and 3 will be identical
2. also values of k for which the eqn has integral solutions (why have they not taken k=1)
i would also like to know about the scope of the range 190-200.(which courses aould be available and from where)

rajat till last year cutoffs were decided by the following process……they took the top 80% of the students of a particular subject and then the marks of the last student in that was the cutoff…….but from this year they hav decided that the average of all students in a particular subject will be the cutoff……….so u may miss out…….but do no worry u always have chances maybe the average scores turn out to be low

i will advice u all not do a lot of analysis….i remember last year when i phoned fiitjee about the rank/mark issue and the reply i heard was that i was going to get a rank about 3000 in around 250 marks…..for nearly 1 1/2 months i was worried about the result…..but when result was announced i got a rank nearly half of what fiitjee had recommended!!!!!!!
so be relax prepare for aieee ,bits whatever …… forget jee till the results are out

One more error I’ve found in all the solutions was that, the number of sterio and structural isomers of C5H10 is given as 7. But I’m dead sure it is 9.Here:

Yr prediction is very near to the reality that I am observing since last years wrt JEE/BITSAT/AIEEE and it is the best site for the students to quench their needs. But still a lot many say that JEE 2009 is easy as compare to 2007 & 2008. I produce the pattern here and leave the rest to them to decide whether 2009 is tougher or easier.
SL NO 2008 2009
A) MCQ 45 36
B) >1 OPTION 12 27
C) PARAGRAPH 45 18
D) MATRIX 09 12
E) ASSERTION 24 NIL
F) SUBJECTIVE NIL 24
Now A,C,E of 2008 is having negative marking and in D, one has to investigate between 4 options. But IN 2009… A,B,C,F are having negative marking and in D…. u have to investigate between 5 options(p,q,r,s,t).Total of A+B is higher in 2009 and please understand.. more than one or one option Qs are not not easy even for brighter students under the pressure cooker situation. Paragraphical Qs are easier because if U catch one, other two can be answered which was very high in 2008 but very less in 2009 and subjectives with negative???. After conductance of JEE2008, authority must have analysed the pattern of scoring of either successful students OR un successful students in 2008 and then only they made JEE’2009 pattern like this. Kindly think, analyse and comment on cut-off of 2009. With best compliments.

In the question in paper 2 multiple answer which of the amines reacts with B2H6 shouldnt the answer be that all of those react. All Lewis bases can and do react with B2H6 to form complexes and in the NCERT 11th text book .. the reaction it is given that the tertiary amine forms 2BH3.N(Ch3)3 which is literally the same complex .
Also in the physics question multiple answer resonance column question in paper 2 , how are you guys so sure that the amplitude of vibration is nt 1cm … 1 cm amplitude is nt that much esp in resonance .

i am preparing for jee-2010..i have given exam of jee 2009….i am selected in prepatory course….in iit kanpur..me iit ki couching nahi karna chahta hu par mujhe ghar par padne ke liye aapke solutions chaiye

Sir i’m a obc candidate belonging to tamilnadu i ‘ll get 160-170 marks in iit jee 2010. will i get a rank in cml or atleast in eml? will i get seat in any of the iit’s? if so please kindly mention it sir. i’m from a rural area and i am not aware of jee exams but i just tried it off. sir kindly reply to my query i’ll be thankful to you. i can’t contact anyone regarding this i only depend on you please sir.
