Why we need a re exam -
JEE 2010 paper came as a rude shock for the following reasons:
1)Paper1 was VERY long.It contained 84 questions.Please compare this with last year (JEE 2009) which contained only 60
questions in the first paper.Hence the paper was very lengthy.24 questions extra.
Last year each question was worth 3 mins.
If this year’s was of the same difficulty ,
we would need 24*3 = 72 mins=1hr 12mins more!
That too the difficulty level was much higher!
(on average ,even taking into account that chemistry was easier this year)
2) The difficulty level in maths was of draconian standards.Most of the sums involved lengthy calculations,involving time and
paper space.The sums were olympiad type of sums.These sums required a lot of time in addition to lengthy calculations.
I have no idea how such sums can be solved in limited time and limited rough space.(a lot of time was wasted in erasing
the calculations to make space for further rough work.)
3)Physics too involved lengthy calculations.
4)While the chemistry paper was of expected difficulty level, Physics was a mixed bag.
Thus there was imbalance between the subjects.
Unfair advantage to chemistry pros.
5)The ORS answer sheets were printed wrongly.There was a mixup between Physics and Maths.Valuable time was wasted
in sorting out the matter.(several students were misinformed )This caused further anxiety.
6)The instructions in Paper 1 were ambiguous regarding the allotment of partial marks to “More than one correct answer” type of questions.This caused a lot of confusion and anxiety.
7)I also understand from news reports that the Hindi question paper had errors in the marking scheme.Misguidance may
result in loss of marks for them.
I came out of the exam disheartened and dejected as I had worked very hard for this exam.Many of my friends share my plight.
Thousands of students across the country feel the same way.
ReExam is the only way out.
